Welcome back to Teelie’s Fairy Garden. Today we’re going to give you a brief overview of how to build a fairy garden and with Father’s Day coming up next month, we decided to gear our choices towards what a dad might like for a fairy garden. To begin with, you need a theme. We chose a farm theme, but you could also choose golf, camping, a car show, or any other number of possibilities. You know your dad’s hobbies and can use that to your advantage when you choose items for his magical fairy garden.

Fairy Garden Container
You will start by selecting a container unless you are going to create your fairy garden in a garden bed. For our farm-themed fairy garden, we decided to use a silver tub. The one we chose is available on Amazon. Animals often drink out of metal tubs, so that was why we thought this would be a great option.
Enchanted Plants
After you fill your fairy garden container with dirt and rocks, then you’ll be ready to add some plants. There are a lot of great options when it comes to choosing the plants for your garden. Some people prefer artificial plants, and others real plants. We like the look of hens and chicks, and we think it’s fun that their name is farm-like too. The Lakeside Collection has some hens and chicks available. Depending on where you live, you may need to check shipping conditions in order to ensure that your plants can reach you. You may also decide to visit a garden center to find the perfect plants for you. Consider the height and spread of the plants since you don’t want them to take over your fairy garden or hide the accessories that you’ll be adding next.
Fairy Buildings
A fairy garden could use a house or building on it. For our farm garden, we decided on a magical barn. It comes with a pet turkey that likes to sit in the sunshine outside the front door. Further details can be found on Amazon.
Magical Animals
Since you have a barn in your fairy garden for your animals, you’re going to need to have some animals. There is a huge assortment of choices available – cows, horses, ducks, geese, pigs, goats, donkeys, and the list goes on. We decided to show you a mother hen with her baby chicks. Meet them on Etsy.
Garden Produce
The animals on your fairy garden farm are going to need to eat. You might decide to have fields of wheat or bales of hay for them. You might also decide to treat them to some tasty garden produce. Rabbits like to be treated to lettuce and carrots, horses love apples and carrots, chickens enjoy tomatoes, and so on. We found a lovely assortment of produce that could add some flavor to your fairy garden. Find them on Etsy.
Diligent Farmer
It is important to have a farmer to care for the animals and produce on your farm. We found a farmer who was hiding his wings while he was busy looking after a calf. Meet him on Amazon.
An Assortment of Accessories
There are also a number of other accessories that you can use to make the farm fairy garden fun. We found several gardening tools, a wheelbarrow and a watering can that would come in handy. Further details on this assortment can be found on Amazon.
Signs / Welcoming Entrance
Signs and a welcoming entrance can also look great in a farm-themed fairy garden. We found a metal gate with a daisy design on it and a welcome sign on Etsy.
